摘要
The presence of pressure-induced microscopic internal tensions in a lattice is considered as the oriigin of its mechanical instability. Born's expressions for atomic force constants and elastic constants are generalized for a compressed lattice with an arbitrary type of potential. The theoretical treatment is exemplified by its application to the mechanism of the pressure-induced ferroelastic transition in paratellurite. © 1990.
