摘要
A new process has been developed for converting concentrated Kraft mill black liquor into clean fuel gas and reduced smelt. Bench- and pilot-scale tests have demonstrated that the process can be operated to provide essentially complete conversion of the black liquor feed into fuel gas with a heating value of about 4470 kJ/m**3 (120 Btu/scf) and smelt that is over 95% reduced to sulfide. Engineering studies indicate that the process can be used to fuel a gas turbine in a power generation system that integrates well with the requirements of a pulp mill. The overall process has the potential for higher efficiency, lower cost, and greater safety than conventional Tomlinson recovery boiler systems.
