SCALING FUNCTIONS IN PHASE-ORDERING DYNAMICS - A COMPARISON OF THEORY AND SIMULATIONS

Existing theoretical predictions for the correlation scaling function of a nonconserved scalar order parameter undergoing phase ordering are compared with our previously published high-precision simulations of the 2D Ising model and new cell-dynamics simulations. Surprisingly, the older theory of Ohta, Jasnow, and Kawasaki (OJK) fits the data somewhat better than the newer, more sophisticated theory of Mazenko. The case where the initial state contains long-range correlations is also considered, and compared with predictions of OJK-like and Mazenko theories. In this case, neither theory is in good agreement with the data.
