ELECTROCATALYTIC REDUCTION OF CO2 ON A MODIFIED ELECTRODE WITH LANGMUIR-BLODGETT-FILMS OF NICKEL(II) COMPLEX WITH LONG ALKYL SUBSTITUTED CYCLAM

摘要
A stable monolayer of a macrocyclic complex, Ni(II)-N-docosylcyclam (N-docosylcyclam: 1-docosyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane), was formed at the air-water interface, and it was deposited successfully on a glassy carbon electrode using the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) technique. The cyclic voltammetric behavior of such modified electrodes for CO2 reduction in H2O revealed that the electrocatalytic reduction proceeded at a thermodynamically favorable potential of -1.25 V versus SCE, and the catalysts in the first layer on the electrode were more effective than those in the outer layers.
