SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF NOVEL TRIANGULAR COPPER(I) COMPLEXES CONTAINING THE TRINUCLEAR MOIETY CU-3(MU-DPPM)(3) (DPPM=BIS(DIPHENYLPHOSPHINO)METHANE) AND TRIPLY BRIDGING ALKOXIDE AND THIOLATE LIGANDS

The novel cationic trinuclear alkoxide copper(I) complexes of the type [Cu-3(mu(3)-OR)(mu(3)-Cl)(mu-dppm)(3)][BF4] (R = 2,4,6-(t)Bu(3)C(6)H(2), 2,6-(t)Bu(2)C(6)H(3), 2,6-(t)Bu(2)-p-MeC(6)H(2), p-MeC(6)H(4)) and [Cu-3(mu(3)-XR)(2)(mu-dppm)(3)][BF4] (R = p-MeC(6)H(4); X = O, S) have been obtained by reaction of [Cu-3(mu(3)-Cl)(2)(mu-dppm)(3)][BF4] with the sodium derivative of the corresponding alcohol or thiol. A high yield method for the synthesis of the trinuclear copper(I) precursor complex, based on the reaction of [Cu-2(mu-AcO)(mu-dppm)(2)][BF4] and Me(3)SiCl, is also described. IR, H-1 and P-31 {H-1} NMR data are discussed.
