摘要
The symmetry relations of crystal shape amplitudes of the Platonic polyhedra are studied in detail. The general algebraic method for calculating the crystal shape amplitude of any polyhedron is explained. The crystal shape amplitudes of the tetrahedron, cube, and octahedron are presented both in an algebraic and a numerical way. Graphs of the central cross-sections of these polyhedra are calculated along the twofold, threefold, and fourfold symmetry axes, respectively. Additionally, computer simulated crystal shape factor maps are represented for these main symmetry directions.
