摘要：

Various examples of polymer gels that undergo multiple phase transitions are listed to elucidate the common nature of these gels. The criterion for the multiple phases is extracted as common factors from these examples: the polymer should be ionized, have sufficiently high degree of hydrogen bonding plus one of the other attractive interactions: hydrophobic, van der Waals, or electrostatic attraction between positive and negative charges. The phase behavior strongly depends on the composition of these interactions within a gel.
