Images of the conjugated polymers poly(p-phenylene vinylene) and poly(3-hexylthienylene) deposited on gold, silver and graphite have been obtained using a Nanoscope II STM in air at room temperature. Areas of semi-crystalline structure have been observed, with local alignment of chains on the surface.
