摘要
Although inflammatory bowel disease (lBD) is considered a disease primarily of young adults, ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease may not present until later in life, even after the age of 60 years. Late-onset IBD has become increasingly important as the number of elderly in the population has increased. By the year 2000, there will be more than 30 million elderly persons in the United States alone, and the incidence of IBD in the elderly may be rising. This article examines the unique features of IBD presenting in old age.
