The new-type polyacetylene (PA) film with doped conductivity over 10(4) S/cm has been synthesized by using three kinds of catalyst. It is observed that polyacetylene with the best elongation ability can be obtained by the catalyst of Ti(OBu)4-AlEt3 (Al/Ti = 4.0) aged in n-butyl ether solvent. The structure and alignment of iodine species are investigated by measuring the polarized Raman spectra of iodine species in the stretched new-type PA film. It is indicated that at least 55% iodine species, in the case of the second-order parameter P2 = 0.55, are perfectively aligned along the stretching direction of PA film in which over 75% of the polyacetylene chains are aligned.
