摘要
Algal strains belonging to the genus Chlorococcales differ in cell wall (CW) composition. Two types of ultrastructure for the outer cell wall layer are known. The first (pink coloured) has a trilaminar structure and contains an acetolysis-resistant biopolymer (ARE) and ketocarotenoids. The second (white) contains none of the above components. Differences in the cell wall neutral sugar composition of various strains and their relationship with the occurrence of ARE are presented. The results also show differences in the sugar pattern of cell walls isolated from homogenates (CWH) and maternal cell walls (CWM) accumulated in medium as a result of autospore liberation.
