NOVEL MAGNETIC-RELAXATION EFFECTS IN SUPERCONDUCTING UPT3 SINGLE-CRYSTALS

Very fast magnetic relaxation processes down to 7 mK have been observed in UPt3 single crystals with H perpendicular-to c-axis. The decay curves cannot be described with a logarithmic law but are well fitted by a stretched exponential time dependence. At low magnetic fields, two different vortex dynamics regimes are observed: an almost temperature independent flux motion regime for T < 350 mK followed by a strong increase of the magnetization relaxation for T > 400 mK. These novel relaxation effects point to particular features of the vortices or of the flux line lattice in the two low-field superconducting phases of UPt3.
