摘要
Unlike conventional solar stills, the system described utilizes the latent heat of condensation and the sensible heat of the discarded seawater. The performance was optimized analytically and the system is presently under construction in Egypt. The system shown consists of a humidifier, a solar still or channel, a condenser, and a pond. All components of the system and possible arrangements were modeled on the computer. The humidifier and condenser performances were simulated using global mass and heat transfer effectiveness and the heat and mass transfer in the channel was analyzed in detail. Channel sensitivity studies were performed first, then the system performance was analyzed and discussed.
