ELECTRICAL-CONDUCTIVITY OF POLYPYRROLE FILMS DOPED WITH CARBOXYLATE ANIONS

摘要
The electrical conductivity of polypyrrole films doped with various kinds of carboxylate anions is influenced by the basicity of the dopant anions in such a way that the greater the basicity, the smaller the conductivity. The observed dependence of the conductivity on the basicity is quantitatively discussed in terms of association of positive charges in polypyrrole with the dopant anions, the degree of which is different depending on the basicity of dopant anions. The conductivity of polypyrrole films doped with monoanions of dicarboxylic acids such as oxalic acid and maleic acid was decreased by immersing the film in such aqueous solutions as to cause dissociation of the doped monoanions into dianions, and the magnitude of the conductivity change was dependent on the degree of the dissociation of the doped monoanions. © 1990, The Electrochemical Society, Inc.
