DEEP COOLING OF 3-LEVEL ATOMS IN 2 STANDING WAVES

摘要
We investigate the dynamics of a three-level atom interacting with two nearly resonant standing waves. The spatially averaged expressions of the radiation force and diffusion coefficient are derived from a Fokker-Planck type equation in the second order REA. The cooled temperatures are numerically calculated for sodium. We can find low temperatures at least an order of magnitude below the Doppler limit. © 1990.
