PERTURBED ANGULAR-CORRELATION STUDIES OF THE OXIDATION OF IMPLANTED IN-111 IN FCC METALS

摘要
The oxidation of 10**1**2 radioactive **1**1**1In ions implanted at 500 kev into the face-centered cubic (fcc) metals silver, copper, aluminum and platinum was studied with the perturbed angular correlation (PAC) method. After annealing of the induced radiation damage the metals were isochronally heated in oxygen at 200 mbar and at an oxidation temperature T//o//x of 300-1200 K. In all cases the authors found **1**1**1In in two micro-surroundings: regular cubic lattice sites and In-O complexes. For aluminum, silver and platinum the PAC parameters suggest a similarly structured object, where the In-O bond length is proportional to the metal-oxygen bond length of the corresponding metal oxide. Temperature-dependent PAC parameters for copper were tentatively attributed to the reaction Cu yielding Cu//2O yielding CuO. Comparison of the present data with recent PAC results on **1**1**1InInO//3 excludes precipitation of In//2O//3 in the investigated cases.
