摘要
A family of closely related proteins in the 11-12 kDa range, parvalbumins, were investigated by plasma desorption, laser desorption and electrospray mass spectrometry. The last two techniques were found to be advantageous in terms of sensitivity, precision and tolerance of impurities and contaminants. Electrospray mass spectrometry had the further advantage that minor components present in the sample were detected. The data obtained indicated a sequence error in one parvalbumin, confirmed N-terminal acetylation in others and in general allow screening for possible candidates for the phylogenetically interesting "elongated" parvalbumins.
