THERMOREVERSIBLE GELATION OF ISOTACTIC POLY(STYRENE) STUDIED BY FLUORESCENCE SPECTROSCOPY

摘要
The thermoreversible gelation of isotactic poly (styrene) (iPS) in decalin which takes place when solutions of iPS are quenched to room temperature was studied by fluorescence spectroscopy. The formation of the transparent gels results in the change of I(m)/I(e), the ratio of the fluorescence intensity of the locally excited state at 285 nm over the fluorescence intensity of the excimer at 330 nm. The temperature and time dependence of this ratio and its relation to the gelation process are reported.
