A FAST RECONSTRUCTION METHOD FOR SHOWER DIRECTION AT LARGE EXTENDED AIR SHOWER ARRAYS

摘要
A fast algorithm for reconstruction of the shower direction at large extended air shower arrays is described. The method is based on a truncated mean of weighted orthogonal time differences and is not subject to any minimisation procedure. Large individual fluctuations in the measured arrival time distribution may be recognised and eliminated by means of a cluster search algorithm. The method exceeds standard fit procedures in accuracy. As it does not rely on any iteration procedure, it is thereby fast and essentially stable.
