COLLISION-INDUCED ELECTRONIC QUENCHING OF ALUMINUM MONOXIDE

摘要
Pulsed laser vaporization-laser-induced fluorescence has been used to produce AlO(beta-2-SIGMA+). Electronic quenching cross-sections for AlO(beta-2-SIGMA+, nu' = 1) were determined by examining fluorescence decay rates in the presence of eight atomic and diatomic collision partners. The measured electronic quenching cross-sections extend from 0.2 to 14 angstrom 2. Some possible molecular mechanisms rationalizing the observed quenching cross-sections are discussed.
