摘要
The effects on analytical chemistry of the banning of the production and use of ozone-depleting substances (ODSs) by the Montreal Protocol of Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer (1987) are discussed. Attention is given to the concessions made to continued ''laboratory and analytical uses'' of ODSs. Finally, progress made in replacing ODSs by solvents of reduced stratospheric ozone-depletion capabilities and by alternative methodologies, such as solid-phase extraction, are briefly considered.
