摘要
Vitellogenesis in females and spermatogenesis in males were stimulated by exogeneous gonadotropic preparations. However, the subsequent oocyte maturation and spermiation did not advance because of the insuffiency of circulating 17-alpha, 20-beta-dihydroxy-4-pregnen-3-one (17-alpha, 20-beta-diOHprog). At the time of maturation, the injection of 17-alpha, 20-beta-diOHprog induced oocyte maturation and ovulation in females and spermiation (increase in volume of seminal plasma and acquisition of sperm motility) in male. These results suggest strongly that 17-alpha, 20-beta-diOHprog play a key role in the final maturation of the Japanese eel.
