摘要
A summary is given of our present knowledge of the reproducibility and stability of the SI unit of mass, the kilogram. It is concluded that the short-term reproducibility, for periods not exceeding about 1 year, is about 2 parts in 10(9) and that long-term drift is unlikely to exceed about 5 parts in 10(9) per year. Possible new definitions of a unit of mass not based upon a unique material artifact are mentioned.
