CONTRIBUTION OF EXCHANGE ON CHARGE-STATE DEPENDENCE OF LARGE-ANGLE ELECTRON-ION ELASTIC-SCATTERING

摘要
The differential elastic scattering cross sections of electrons from A(q+) ions are calculated incorporating the exchange contribution of the continuum and bound orbitals in addition to the static potential. The effect on the differential cross sections at large angles, in particular for theta = 180-degrees, is examined for different charge states of carbon, fluorine, and magnesium ions. There is an improved agreement between experiments with F(q+) and theory when the exchange contribution is included.
