The paper presents the main results of research concerning the use of hydrogen for passenger cars, a spark ignition engine in a dual-fuel system, hydrogen-gasoline. The research was carried out with an Fe-Ti hydride tank to store the hydrogen, connected to the cooling system of the engine for activation. Thermal efficiency, the saving of conventional fuel, overall fuel consumption in a city-drive cycle (according to ECE standards) and emission concentrations in the exhaust were measured for a hydrogen-gasoline-fueled engine, operated on a test bed and in a test vehicle.
