The binary molar excess heats of mixing of beta-picoline + n-alkane mixtures were measured at 25-degrees-C. A model of associated mixtures proposed by Prigonine, Flory and Patterson and an extended real associated method, applied recently to some pyridine base + n-alkane systems, is used to describe the excess molar heat of mixing of binary systems formed by mixing beta-picoline with C6-C10 n-alkanes. The Prigogine-Flory-Patterson model successfully describes the changes in excess heat of mixing for all the investigated systems over the whole concentration range.
