Differences were investigated between represser (R) and sensitizer (S) groups in adaptation to communication networks and task changes. The experimental sequence for 12 R and 12 S groups was 15 trials in a wheel network, performing common symbol problems; 15 trials in a completely connected network performing common symbol problems; and 15 trials in a completely connected network performing story completion problems. Rs developed appropriate problem-solving systems somewhat earlier, utilized their systems more efficiently, and exhibited significantly greater leadership continuity. Differences between R and S groups in times taken to solve problems were significant in the wheel and following network change, but not significant following task change.
