INFLUENCE OF ANNEALING ON THE RAYLEIGH SURFACE-WAVE VELOCITY IN METALLIC MULTILAYER FILMS

摘要
Elastic and structural properties in sputtered Ag/Co and Au/Co multilayers have been studied via Brillouin scattering and X-ray diffraction as a function of modulation wavelength. Softening of the Rayleigh sound velocity due to interfacial strain has been observed for both of the as-deposited films. However the softening is very sensitive to the modification of the interfacial structure caused by thermal annealing.
