1ST-PRINCIPLES CALCULATION OF THE THERMOELECTRIC-POWER OF DISORDERED ALLOYS

摘要
The electronic structure for a series of Ag-Pd and Au-Pd alloys has been calculated applying the coherent potential approximation alloy theory in connection with the Korringa-Kohn-Rostoker method of band structure calculation (KKR-CPA). Based on this the diffusion thermoelectric power S/T of these systems has been determined making use of the Kubo-Greenwood equation for the dc-conductivity. Very good agreement with experimental data has been achieved demonstrating the reliability of this rigorous approach. The applicability and limitations of much simpler schemes to determine S/T is discussed.
