Hero summer rape (Brassica napus L.) is a cultivar with high concentrations of erucic acid in its seed oil and low levels of glucosinolates in the oil-free seed meal. The oil provides a good source of erucid acid for many industrial applications and the meal can be used in the feed industry. The higher erucic acid content of Hero over Reston is of considerable economic importance in the industrial oil market. Hero is adapted to the B. napus growing areas of western Canada.
