摘要
Nuclear DNAs extracted from individuals of the kelp Costaria costata (Phaeophyta) were studied using a small-subunit ribosomal DNA probe (pCc 18). On the basis of annealing analysis of rDNA variation within and among individuals and between populations, polymorphisms detected by pCc 18 appeared to indicate population identity. These rDNA polymorphisms were used to chart the distribution of Costaria breeding groups in the northeast Pacific. 20 sites were sampled and eight distinct populations resolved. One variant (Variant A) identified a southern group with plants from 13, loosely clustered sites sharing this banding pattern. The other seven variants, found in the northern portion of the study area, were unique and population-specific. © 1990 Springer-Verlag.
