摘要
The prominence of the ac motor in industry has made it the target for numerous energy-saving schemes. Approximately 76 percent of the electric energy being used in the U.S. is consumed by motors, which provide a large market for adjustable speed drives, that in turn translates into a large penetration level and thus more harmonics in the electric utility system. This tutorial paper summarizes important developments on some of the latest harmonic mitigation techniques which could be applied toward the improvement of power quality of adjustable speed drives. In particular, the authors introduce a table of harmonic mitigation techniques from which an evaluation is presented, along with a classification for which most of these techniques can be placed into.
