NOTES ON GOUY DIFFUSE-LAYER THEORY

Explicit expressions are listed for the charge density and the capacitance of the diffuse layer in single, fully dissociated symmetric and asymmetric electrolytes. A relatively simple approximation to the potential-distance profile is given for 1,1-, 1,2-, 2,1- and 2,2-electrolytes. In these electrolytes, the potential-distance profiles exhibit limiting behavior at extreme values of the Stern potential. © 1990.
