ON THE ANALYSIS OF LATERALLY VIBRATING SLENDER BEAMS SUBJECT TO VARIOUS COMPLICATING EFFECTS

摘要
The Rayleigh-Ritz method, with orthogonally generated polynomials as admissible functions, is used to obtain a simple analysis of the free vibration problem of slender beams subject to various complicating effects. These effects are the presence of concentrated masses and/or concentrated moments of inertia, intermediate supports, axial loading and non-uniformity of cross-section; such may exist separately or in any combination. Numerical results are presented for several beams, illustrating the accuracy and versatility of the approach.
