PREPARATION AND SUPERCONDUCTING PROPERTIES OF Y-BA-CU-O THICK-FILMS WITH HIGH CRITICAL CURRENT-DENSITY

The Y-Ba-Cu-O thick films have been prepared by a paint-on method using the mixtures of powders and organic vehicles. The structure and Jc of the films made from three different kinds of powders were reported. The Jc value has been improved by the use of melt quenched powders. Fine particles of the 211 phase with diameters of submicron were homogeneously distributed in the 123 phase. The c-axis crystal orientation was enhanced by the addition of Ag2O to melt quenched powders. The maximum Jc value exhibited 7.5 x 10(4) A/cm2 at 77 K and 0.1 T estimated by the magnetization measurement.
