RED, GREEN AND BLUE UPCONVERSIONS IN ERBIUM-DOPED FLUOROZIRCONATE GLASS

摘要
The upconversion processes in erbium-doped fluorozirconate glass with a new dual wavelength (1.13 and 1.50 mum) barium vapour laser were studied. Very strong red, green and blue emissions have been observed. These are shown to be the results of two-, three- and four-photon processes involving excited state absorption and resonant excitation. A detailed discussion of these mechanisms and their practical implications is given.
