摘要
Colloidal gold has been prepared by UV irradiation (lambda = 253.7 nm) of some water-insoluble complexes formed between AuCl4- and cationic surfactants dodecylpyridinium chloride (DPCl), hexadecylpyridinium chloride (CPCl), dodecyltrimethylammonium chloride (DTAC), and hexadecyltrimethylammonium chloride (CTAC). Optical absorption spectra reveal that the UV irradiation brings about the photolysis of the complexes, prior to the reduction of AuCl4-. The remarkable effect of the length of hydrocarbon chain on the aggregation of gold particles is observed. Pyridinium surfactants incorporate the reduction of AuCl4- through the photooxidation of the surfactants themselves. CPCl is the most appropriate for producing monodispersed ultrafine particles of gold.
