Process reengineering is in the debunking phase of its life cycle-an evolutionary pattern in which management ideas and techniques are first presented as panaceas for business success and subsequently debunked as worthless. This cycle has operated on many topics before-from PERT to TQM-so it is not surprising that process reengineering is not immune.
