摘要
The feasibility of electrical-discharge machining (EDM) conducted on the Al2O3-Cr3C2 composites is explored for various contents and particle sizes of Cr3C2 in composites. The characteristics of surfaces after EDM were examined by scanning electron microscopy. The surface roughness after EDM, the material removal rate and the variation of fracture strength were studied in terms of EDM processing variables, e.g., pulse current, pulse duration time, and electrical polarity. Mechanisms for removal of Al2O3-Cr3C2 composites by EDM are also proposed.
