摘要
Alloying elements of transition metals show strong influences on the microstructure and mechanical properties, like tensile strength, plasticity and fracture toughness of two-phase intermetallic-gamma-TiAl-alpha-2-Ti3Al alloys. Considerable improvements in strength and room temperature ductility have been achieved by chromium and silicon additions to Ti52Al48. Transmission electron microscopy investigation revealed clearly that deformation twinning by glide of alpha/6 [121] or alpha/3 [121] partial dislocations is the dominant deformation mechanism at room and elevated temperature. From microstructural observations it is concluded that chromium lowers the stacking fault energy and also the antiphase boundary energy in gamma-TiAl.
