摘要
The role of environmental lighting and melatonin administration on Xenopus laevis larval growth and development has been studied. Melatonin treated retarded the larval growth and development, regardless of the light regime. Extreme lighting conditions (continuous darkness and continuous light) retarded the larval growth and also delayed the metamorphic development. The possible influence of environmental conditions through the pineal complex on amphibian larval growth is discussed.
