3RD-ORDER OPTICAL NONLINEARITIES OF BIS(PHTHALOCYANINES)

摘要
The cubic hyperpolarizabilities, gamma, at 1.064-mu-m are reported for Sc, Y, and several lanthanide bis(phthalocyanines) and their anions. The hyperpolarizabilities varied with the metal ion, increasing as the intervalence transition came closer to resonance. Otherwise gamma varies little with the metal or the charge on the molecule. A two-level model for optical pumping of the intervalence transition does not account for the large observed nonlinearity, but optical pumping may contribute to an observed resonance enhancement of the hypopolarizability in ScPc2.
