摘要
Considered at the landscape scale, economically efficient multiple use of forests may require land-use specialization. If managers attempt to satisfy legitimate multiple-use demands from society by managing all lands for all outputs, both commodity and amenity values of the forest may be inappropriately supplied, and management inputs may be inefficiently deployed. These results run counter to some of the prescriptions called ''new forestry.''
