摘要
Most diagnostic signals have a close relationship to time variables, especially amplitude and frequency modulation, defect impulse, rapidly varying signals and half-frequency whirl. The time-dependent behaviour of machinery vibrations should contain much useful information about supervised machines. In view of this, this paper describes an effective method for analysing diagnostic signals, namely the Wigner distribution. This distribution, a powerful tool for time-frequency analysis of signals, can be interpreted as a distribution of signal energy in both frequency and time domains. It is shown that the distribution can be applied to the description of machine conditions and is an effective method in machinery fault diagnosis. The fundamental description of the Wigner distribution and its major advantages for analysing machinery vibrations are given briefly, some practical examples are illustrated. A new possibility for monitoring half-frequency whirl based on the Wigner distribution is proposed. © 1991.
