A SIMPLIFIED TECHNIQUE FOR MEASUREMENT OF SORBENT REACTIVITY FOR USE IN CIRCULATING FLUIDIZED-BED COMBUSTORS

摘要
The initial reaction rate and the maximum extent of limestone particle sulfation have been measured using different reactivity measurement techniques. A comparison of measured values from different techniques is presented. To simulate the dispersal of sorbent particles in highly-expanded beds, like fast fluidized beds, a quartz wool matrix is used for dispersing fine sorbent particles. The reaction rates are determined from the rate of sulfation in a synthetic mixture of flue gases. The results from this simple technique are comparable with that from others. The technique is then used to measure the reactivity of different size of sorbents and, at different reaction temperatures, to study the effects of particle size and temperature on the reactivity of limestone particles.
