RESONANT ELECTRON-SCATTERING BY MOLECULES ADSORBED ON A SURFACE - N2-AG SYSTEM

摘要
A model study of resonant electron scattering by static molecules adsorbed on a metal surface is presented, using the recently developed coupled angular mode (CAM) method. It is applied to the case of N2 molecules adsorbed on an Ag surface. The N2-(2)PI(g) resonance characteristics (energy position and width) are determined and shown to be modified by the presence of the surface in qualitative agreement with the experimental results of Demuth et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 47 (1981) 1166].
