EXISTENCE THEOREMS FOR HEREDITARY LAGRANGE AND MAYER PROBLEMS OF OPTIMAL CONTROL

摘要
Existence theorems are proved for optimal solutions in control systems governed by functional differential equations. A model for abstract hereditary systems, formulated by J. K. Hale and M. A. Cruz is used, which subsumes functional differential equations of finitely retarded type, equations of neutral type which are linear in dx/dt, as well as a large class of Volterra integral equations. Using this model, an abstract hereditary control system is defined. Several existence theorems are then proved for optimal control problems of the types of Lagrange and Mayer.
