摘要
The structure of a reduced form of La//2NiO//4 is determined from X-ray and neutron powder diffraction data. The Ni-O and La-O bond lengths are discussed in connection with IR absorption data obtained in transmission. The strong nature of the La-O bonds in this orthorhombic form of La//2NiO//4 is emphasized principally in some of the La-O-Ni bridges having long Ni-O distances. Finally it is reasonable to assume that the tetragonal form of La//2NiO//4 is in fact stabilized by the presence of a small amount of Ni(III) ions.
