Magnetization of the single crystal EuBa2Cu3O7-δ has been measured in detail in the fields parallel and perpendicular to the Cu-O plane up to 5 kOe in the temperature range below Tc. It has been found that lower critical field Hc1 is very anisotropic. From the magnetization curves, anisotropic high critical current density Jc is estimated and it is suggested that random oxygen defects in the Cu-O planes are important for the high Jc of the superconductor EuBa2Cu3O7-δ.
