THE BE-9(D,N) THICK-TARGET NEUTRON-SPECTRA FOR DEUTERON ENERGIES BETWEEN 2.6 MEV AND 7.0 MEV

The measurement of 0-degrees neutron spectra and yields from deuterons incident on a thick beryllium-metal target using time-of-flight techniques is described. U-235 and U-238 fission ion chambers were used as neutron detectors to span the neutron-energy range above 0.05 MeV with a time resolution of less-than-or-equal-to 3 ns. Measurements were made over flight-paths of approximately 2.65 and approximately 3.75 m for incident deuteron energies from 2.6 to 7.0 MeV at 0.4 MeV intervals. The results are presented in graphical form and in tables.
